Part 1
We had planned to do our own hiking to Y Linh Ho village, but within 5 mins of walking out of our hotel, we were approached by a lady of the Giay ethnic group. She asked for 400K VND initially (exclude entrance fee) to bring us to Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van (one way) and we were to take taxi back to Sapa town. In the end, hubby negotiated down to 300K VND. While she was talking to us, a few other women of some other ethnic groups gathered and followed us. They stopped following us only after we insisted that we had no intention of buying anything.
Anyway, we started trekking arount 9.45am in the morning and finally reached Lao Chai at 12.45pm. 3 hours of trekking with uphills and downhills. Trust me, if you are not a frequent trekker, it's going to be very tiring.
Children in the remote areas of Sapa were seen using smartphones ... WOW...
Part 2 of trekking
